The Motorola MA1 is a fantastic product that transforms your ordinary car into a fully functional Android Auto machine. The wireless dongle has been popular — we gave the MA1 a 9 out of 10 in our full review — and as a result, it has frequently sold out during its brief existence. The device's stock is improving in the United States, but the price appears to be gradually rising above its original MSRP.

The Motorola MA1 was initially priced at $89.95, but 9to5 Google has now discovered that the price has risen to $99.99 at both Amazon and Best Buy. Since the price increase was discovered, Amazon has reduced the product's MSRP to $89.99, but it was briefly available for the full $100. Both of these retailers have available stock, so if you need one right away, go with Amazon. Target is still selling the dongle for $90, with no sign of an increase, but stock appears to be more limited there.
That Amazon listing comes directly from Motorola, so it may be that the manufacturer is deliberately increasing the price in view of the increased demand. The company has yet to make an official statement regarding the price of the MA1, and we have asked Motorola why it is increasing. We will update this article when we hear more.
Product prices are occasionally raised when there is high demand, but this is a rare occurrence. There's also the possibility that this is due to supply constraints, which could affect the price of materials used by Motorola to make these dongles. This isn't the first price increase in recent weeks. The Meta Quest 2 virtual reality headset was initially priced at $300, but Meta announced in July that it would be raised to $400. That's a stomach-churning price increase, so an extra $10 on the Motorola MA1 looks more reasonable.
In our review, we mentioned that the MA1 $90 price tag was "a little on the high side." That is especially true if you are purchasing the dongle for $100, but we also stated that "the MA1 is great, and you should buy it," so you may decide it is still worthwhile even at this higher price.
