Google Pixel Watch expected to launch in May

Google long-rumored smartwatch may be released in May. According to a new leak from tipster Jon Proesser, Google may release the Pixel Watch this year on May 26. The rumoured Google watch has been subjected to numerous leaks and renders from credible sources, but the company has yet to issue a single word of confirmation. It had previously been speculated that Google would unveil the Pixel Watch at Google IO 2021. Things, however, did not go as planned. Google announced the Pixel 6, Pixel 5a, but not the Pixel Watch.

The Google Pixel Watch may finally arrive on May 26th, according to noted tipster Jon Prosser, who has gotten most of his product launch predictions correct. "Pixel Watching. I've heard that Google plans to launch it on Thursday, May 26th, more than a year after we leaked it. This is the first time we've seen a specific date on the device. Google is known for delaying release dates — but if they do, we'll be aware," he said. The date also corresponds to Google I/O developer conference.

Previously, Prosser speculated that the watch would be released alongside the Pixel 6, but later revealed that the launch had been postponed. In a YouTube video, he also shared the full renders of the alleged Pixel Watch. According to previous reports, the Google Pixel Watch has been condemned as "Rohan," an Indian name.

According to leaks and renders, the Pixel Watch will be the company's offering in the premium watch segment. As per the 3D renders, the smartwatch will feature a slim form factor and a curved display that wraps around a metal frame. A large crown button was shown on the right side of the dial, but its functionality was not specified in the report. Nothing is known about the specifications of the watch, but in the renders, some trackers including Maps integration, heart rate monitoring and step counter can be seen on the home screen of the watch.

Google previously sent out a survey asking people what features they'd like to see on Wear OS. Features included were SPO2 (oxygenation) tracking, sleep apnea detection, sleep analysis, heartbeat alerts, recovery time monitoring, stress tracking, pairing of medical devices and gym equipment, rape detection, and calorie tracking. Some of the features and trackers mentioned above may be available on the Pixel Watch.
