With the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, Apple may finally eliminate the unpopular notch, replacing it with a punch-hole camera — a method that practically every Android phone has utilised for years.
That's according to Jon Prosser, who posted some unofficial renders of the iPhone 14 Pro Max's rumoured design. Given that Face ID requires more than the one small lens seen here, the design is odd, but Prosser believes the remaining components are buried behind the display.

It's not only the lack of a notch that's different here; the camera bump is mostly gone as well, with the lenses virtually flush with the back. This appears to have been accomplished simply by increasing the thickness of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Prosser doesn't specify how thick it is, but it appears to be significantly thicker than the 7.4mm thick iPhone 12 Pro Max.
A triple-lens camera with a LiDAR scanner, similar to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, a semi-glossy glass back (with the Apple logo sitting beneath the glass), round volume buttons (similar to the iPhone 4), and a presumably titanium chassis, rather than stainless steel, are also visible.

Finally, on the bottom, there's a Lightning port. What you shouldn't read into are the colours, as Prosser indicates that of the ones depicted, the only one they've heard about is a rose gold one, which may or may not be final.
It's also worth mentioning that according to Prosser, only the Pro models will be without a notch, while the ordinary iPhone 14 would still have one. He's speculating there, though, because he doesn't know anything about the typical models. However, we have a feeling they won't use titanium because it's an expensive material.
We would, however, take all of this with a grain of salt, as while Prosser is frequently correct, he has also been incorrect on several occasions. Aside from that, it's still early for iPhone 14 rumours, and even if this is correct, things might change.

Apple hasn't updated the iPhone range in this way in years, and it's long overdue. Not only is the current design becoming tedious, but it also appears to be dated due to the enormous notch.
For the iPhone 13 series, Apple is believed to be decreasing the notch, although that seems like a tiny move when most competing handsets feature an all-screen design.
As a result, removing it for the iPhone 14 range (even if only for the Pro variants) will finally bring Apple's phones up to speed with the competition.
Aside from that, the other changes appear to be mostly beneficial — while not everyone will want a thicker phone, there's a strong chance that it will allow for a larger battery, which is something we've been wanting for a long time. So let's hope Prosser is correct on this one.
