Apple Watch Series 7 upgrades: All about apple Watch Series 7

The Apple Watch Series 7 starts at $399 and will be available later this fall. It was revealed during Apple's event on Tuesday. However, the changes do not appear to be that dramatic. It has a larger display with thinner bezels, a faster-charging battery that promises 8 hours of use after charging for 8 minutes, and a more crack-resistant front crystal. However, the battery life is the same as last year's watch, at 18 hours. Blue, green, midnight (black), starlight (a gold-silver blend), and product red are also new colours for the aluminium case. Steel and titanium-cased versions can also be upgraded with more expensive upgrades.

All about apple Watch Series 7

Contrary to earlier reports of a massively revamped flat design, Apple appears to be sticking to its guns with the rest of the watch's design. Anyone expecting a completely new watch (as I did) will be disappointed by the seemingly minor updates. However, Apple has made minor changes to previous Apple Watches year after year. The only truly novel feature of last year's Apple Watch Series 6 was the addition of estimated blood oxygen levels. This year's updates appear to be sparse as well, and it doesn't appear to be that different from a casual distance. The promises of improved durability and faster charging appear useful, but probably not enough for most people to consider upgrading from a recent model.

A larger Display

The larger screen, like the Series 4's size increase a few years ago, should allow for more readable and detailed watch faces, notifications, and apps. According to Apple, it is 20% larger than the Series 6 and 50% larger than the Series 3. Buttons on the displays are larger, and Apple claims that 50 percent more text can fit on-screen, while the display is 70 percent brighter indoors in always-on mode. (A new on-screen full keyboard, in addition to scribble and dictation options, will now appear for entering text.)

The display is now curved at the corners and wraps around the case slightly. I haven't seen it in person yet, but a 3D model in AR shows the subtle effect from the side.

There are also new watch faces, including a redesigned Modular watch face and a number-warping watch face with digits that wrap around the curved edge. However, there is still no way to get new watch faces from a watch face store, despite the fact that Apple's watch faces have a lot of customization options.

Promises of better durability

The Watch 7 has a new IP6X rating, which promises improved dust resistance. According to Apple, the curved crystal is also 50% thicker, which may result in less cracking. But we haven't tested it yet, so we don't know how durable it is (and won't know until the watch arrives later this fall). The watch has the same 50-meter water resistance for swimming in freshwater, pools, or the ocean as previous models.

Faster charging, but not better battery life

Apple is promoting the Watch 7 fast-charging capabilities, which claim an 8-hour battery life after only 8 minutes of charging. That's useful, especially if you forgot to charge the watch the night before (or if you're using the Apple Watch to track your sleep), but the watch's total battery life stays the same. Based on my prior experience, expect to use it for around a day and a half.

No new health features

Any new health features or sensors, on the other hand, are absent. Samsung's recent Galaxy Watch 4 and Fitbit Sense from last year began introducing new health sensors such as body analysis and electrodermal activity, but Apple hasn't introduced anything new in terms of health on the Series 7 compared to last year. There is also no improvement in battery life or a watch face store.

Pricing tiers TBD

The Apple Watch Series 7 starts at $399, but prices for different sizes, LTE-ready models, and materials are unknown. Prices are expected to rise, as with previous Apple Watches.

WatchOS 8 arriving ahead of the Apple Watch Series 7

Apple's newest version of WatchOS, which includes new cycling functions, a redesigned Mindfulness app, and Wallet app changes, is expected to arrive on September 20. Existing Apple Watch owners may find that those upgrades are sufficient, and they will not need to upgrade their watches.

Apple's watch portfolio has been constantly improving, especially as competitors in the wearable space have consolidated. The Apple Watch is required to use Apple's Fitness Plus subscription programme, which launched at the end of last year. At today's event, Apple also revealed a new group workout function.
