Although Manufacturers who collaborate with MediaTek, such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo, will eventually export to other markets, China may be the "primary target" for the chipset.
The company plans to launch its first 4nm chips by the end of the year, according to Taiwanese chip maker MediaTek, today during its income call.
Bryan Ma, IDC Vice-President of customer devices, announced a series of tweets to targeted 4nm chips for the flagship smartphone segment, which is over 4000 yuan priced (approximately Rs. 45,000).
According to Ma, China could be the main goal for the chipset, but he noted that Chinese enterprises that have MediaTek partners will eventually also be exported to other markets. This probably involves companies such as Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, often working on their devices with MediaTek. All three companies are among the top five in India, with Xiaomi being the country's biggest smartphone seller.

The Taiwan Semiconductor Company's (TSMC) 4nm process technology will be used to create MediaTek's 4nm chips. Samsung, the company's main foundry competition, has been pushing for this technology as well. Qualcomm is slated to employ Samsung's 4nm technology for next year's flagship Snapdragon 895 CPU, according to reports. Qualcomm's 5nm process technology is used in the company's current flagship, the Snapdragon 888.
Process technology advancements contribute to advances in processing speed and efficiency. MediaTek's new processor will also support 5G, which is almost a foregone consequence for each new mobile chip released nowadays. Apple is also likely to adopt a 4nm processor in its iPhones in 2022.
