Samsung, the South Korean conglomerate, has predicted that Apple will release a foldable tablet by 2024.
According to AppleInsider, Samsung Mobile Experience team recently met with suppliers and is "feeling optimistic about the foldable market."
They believe Apple may launch its first foldable device by 2024, but it will not be an iPhone. "Even though there is a lot of demand for an iPhone Fold," the report said, "the technology may not be ready yet."
The current folding phone's bulky design is incompatible with Apple's design concept.
Earlier this year, industry analyst firm CCS Insight predicted that the technology behemoth would begin experimenting with foldable technology.
Apple has yet to enter the lucrative foldable market, which Samsung leads.
"A foldable iPhone does not make sense for Apple right now. We believe they will avoid that trend and instead experiment with a foldable iPad "said Ben Word, the firm chief of research.
"A folding iPhone would be a super high risk for Apple. First, it would have to be incredibly expensive to not cannibalize the current iPhone," he said.
The company was exploring foldable technology for displays of around 20-inch size.
