Steam mobile app, redesigned by Valve, available in beta

There's a good chance that regular Steam users are unaware that there's also a Steam Mobile App. Valve appears to have taken notice, as they have redesigned the mobile app from the ground up to include new features while keeping some of the old ones, such as the ability to browse games, your Library, and get Steam Guard codes.

The app is still in development, and Valve is inviting "invested users" to beta test it. The beta will be available on both iOS and Android and will allow users to test the app full functionality before it is released.

With both PlayStation and Xbox revamping their mobile apps, it's about time Valve catches up on mobile.

Valve opens Steam mobile app for beta testing, here's how to sign up

Simply go to the Mobile App site, which is linked here, and sign up for either Android or iOS. The app will then be available for download via TestFlight (on iOS) or the Google Play Store.

The Steam Client app now supports multiple accounts and QR code sign-ins. Players can now sign in to their Steam Client on PC and check a variety of other things, including trade confirmations, using the app. According to Apple guidelines, only 10,000 players will be able to test the beta for the mobile app, so iOS users may be unable to participate in the beta testing phase.

Because Android has no such restrictions, players should have no trouble obtaining beta testing on the platform. You must opt in to the Steam Client Beta by scanning a QR code with your new mobile app. Simply click the "Show me a QR code" link to sign in to Steam in a browser.
