The long-awaited new system software update for the PS5 is now out of beta testing and available for download globally. The new update includes much-requested features like 1440p HDMI video output support, gamelists, and new social features like requesting Share Screen from other party members.
On the audio front, a handy little tool now allows players to compare 3D audio to stereo. This will give users a better understanding of the complexities of 3D Audio and allow them to fine-tune their experience by adjusting their 3D profile.
Voice Command search on YouTube is another handy new feature in the PS5. This will allow players to use the controller mic to easily find videos on YouTube.

1440p HDMI Video Output
- The PS5 beta adds 1440p HDMI video output support, allowing players to select an additional visual setting on compatible PC monitors and TVs.
- If the game you're playing supports 1440p rendering, you'll be able to see native 1440p output on your screen.
- Alternatively, if you're playing a game with a higher native resolution, such as 4K, you might benefit from improved anti-aliasing by supersampling down to 1440p output.
- To see if your HDMI device is compatible, go to system settings and select "Test 1440p Output" under "Screen and Video."
Gamelist - Game Library
- You can now create gamelists in your Game Library, making it even easier to organise your games.
- To begin, navigate to the [Your Collection] tab and click [Create Gamelist]. Choose which games to include in your gamelist and then decide what to call them.
- You can have up to 15 gamelists with 100 games each. All games in your Game Library's "Your Collection" tab, including disc and digital titles, can be added to a gamelist. You can also have multiple gamelists with the same game.
If users have that option enabled, the update will be downloaded automatically. Users can then install the update after it has been downloaded, which will take a few restarts of the PS5.
