Some people are still hoping for a Nintendo Switch Pro before the end of the year. Unfortunately, the Japanese company has just thwarted their plans: in its most recent financial report, it states that its top priority for the time being is to solve its production problems caused by component shortages. At the very least, we will have to wait until the end of 2023 for a new version of the console.
When Nintendo unveiled its OLED Switch, many people gave up hope that a Pro model would ever be released, capable of displaying games in 1080p, or even 4K for the most optimistic. However, the rumours began again shortly after. The Nvidia hack reveals that the company has been developing an Ampere SoC for a more powerful Switch model. Then, at the start of the summer, there were rumours that the console would be available by the end of the year.

In the end, there was one final principle everyone agreed on. If the first Switch launch coincided with the release of Zelda Breath of the Wild; It seems logical that the second version is available at the same time as the Switch Pro, doesn't it? Let's put it simply: nothing will happen. Nintendo is actually very clear on this point in its latest financial report. Its current objective is to address the shortage of components affecting its production.
At least until the end of its current fiscal year, which will end on March 31, 2023. Who knows what the future holds after this date, but Nintendo does not appear to be interested in making any major announcements. A reasonable decision given that the second quarter of its fiscal year was heavily impacted by component shortages, causing turnover and profits to fall compared to the previous year.
Having said that, Nintendo has also stated that its sales targets will remain unchanged until March 2023. So let us hope that the manufacturer is able to reduce the effects of the component shortage. Anyway, we won't hear from it until next spring, which means that if there is a Switch Pro, we'll have to wait until at least the last months of 2023.
