(IDC) According to Internal Data Corporation (IDC), worldwide tablet shipments grew 0.15 percent year-on-year, while Chromebook shipments continued to decline 51.4 percent year-on-year. Various OEMs shipped 40.5 million units as compared to 40.4 million in the second quarter of this year i.e. April to June. On the other hand, during the same period, Chromebook shipments declined from 12.3 million to 6 million units.

According to IDC, new tablet entrants such as Xiaomi, Realme, OPPO, and Vivo appear to have outperformed expectations, contributing to growth in the Android tablet market in the third quarter. The rise in the overall tablet market is attributed to tablet deployments in education projects as well as special sales such as 618 in China and Prime Day in the United States.
