Xiaomi announced its latest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro, as well as a few other products, in its home country of China a few days ago.
Both the Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro smartphones are now officially available for purchase in the Chinese market for a starting price of 3,999 yuan ($595).
The 8GB + 128GB variant costs 3,999 yuan, while the 8GB + 256GB variant costs 4,299 yuan ($641). The 12GB + 256GB variant costs 4,699 yuan ($699), while the 12GB + 512GB variant costs 5,199 yuan ($775).
The Xiaomi 12S Pro 8GB + 128GB model costs 4,699 yuan ($699), while the 8GB + 256GB model costs 4,999 yuan ($745). The 12GB + 256GB model costs 5,399 yuan, and the 12GB + 512GB model costs 5,899 yuan ($879).
In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi 12S has a 6.28-inch display, while the 12S Pro has a 6.73-inch display, both with an AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor powers the devices, which are paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage.
In terms of cameras, the phones feature a Leica-branded camera setup on the back. The standard model is equipped with a 50MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP telephoto sensor. The Pro model, on the other hand, includes a 50MP Sony IMX707 primary sensor as well as a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP telephoto lens. Both phones have a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
The Xiaomi 12S series ships with Android 12 out of the box, with the company own MIUI custom interface on top. The 12S has a 4,500mAh battery and supports 67W fast charging, whereas the 12S Pro has a 4,600mAh battery and supports 120W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.
