Fans of Rockstar Games online Red Dead Redemption spin-off title, Red Dead Online, now have an answer.
Fans of Red Dead Online (RDO) have received some answers, but none of them are flattering. Rockstar Games has finally addressed player concerns about its online frontier adventure title recent content drought, expressing interest in further "enhancing" the game without adding any new content.
The company thanked the RDO community for its "continued support and dedication" in a post published on Rockstar news site on July 7, but said it was shifting its focus to developing Grand Theft Auto 6.
Hi Rockstar, will you be attending the funeral we're hosting for Red Dead Online on July 13th? We're celebrating the game you abandoned on it's one year abandonversary!

"Over the past few years, we have steadily shifted more development resources towards the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series," according to the post, "and as a result, we are in the process of making some changes to how we support Red Dead Online."
Monthly events will continue to feature "Specialist Roles, story-based cooperative missions, competitive Showdown Modes, and much more," according to the post, allowing new and old players to interact with the content. The community's creativity and ingenuity will also be highlighted, front and centre, "at every opportunity," according to Newswire.
In addition to the popular seasonal events and additional experience improvements to "enhance and maintain a healthy Red Dead Online environment," Rockstar developers are shifting their focus to work on adding more to existing modes and adding new Telegram missions. This will be used in place of large, themed periodic updates.
This news confirms what RDO players have been hearing since July 13, when the game received its last meaningful update. Fans have dubbed the date the game's "abandonversary," and have begun planning an in-game funeral for the title, which is set to take place on July 13.
The news comes alongside an insider report claiming an enhanced version of Red Dead Redemption 2 designed for current-gen consoles has been shelved.
