A stable version of OxygenOS 12 is now available for the OnePlus Nord CE, less than a month after its initial open beta release. It's been a long road for the device - we're getting closer to the official launch of Android 13 - but if you've been waiting for the Android 12 update, you can finally hold your breath.
According to a number of user reports on the OnePlus Community forums, the first OxygenOS 12 stable update for the OnePlus Nord CE, software version C.04, has begun rolling out to some users in India. The OTA is nearly 4GB in size and raises the Android security patch level to July 2022.
What's Upgraded
System
Optimized desktop icons with improved textures using a brand new material inspired design and integrating lights and layers
AI system booster optimized for 2.1 to support the system to run smoothly even when the load is high
Shelf
Cards now have new style options, making data contents more aesthetically attractive and easier to read.
Access to OnePlus Scout has been added to Shelf, allowing you to search multiple contents on your phone, such as Apps, Settings, Media Data, and so on.
OnePlus Watch Card has been added to the Shelf, allowing you to quickly check your health status.
Dark Mode
Three new adjustable levels have been added, providing a more personalised and comfortable user experience.
Work Life Balance
Work Life Balance is a new feature that allows you to easily switch between Work and Life mode via quick settings.
Automatic Work/Life mode switching is now supported based on specific locations, Wi-Fi networks, and time, as well as personalised App notification profiles.
Gallery
Switching between layouts with a two-finger pinch gesture is now supported, as is intelligently recognising the best-quality pictures and cropping the thumbnail based on the content, making the gallery layout more attractive.
Canvas AOD
Newly added line and colour styles for a more personalised lock screen experience with inspiring visuals. Multiple brushes and strokes have been added, as well as colour adjustment support.
The OxygenOS 12 stable release for the OnePlus Nord CE will be released in stages, as with all OnePlus updates. It will initially only reach a small number of users, but once OnePlus confirms that it is stable enough for a wider rollout, it should reach all users.
