Netflix, in collaboration with Sennheiser, has announced special audio for select shows such as Apple TV+ movies on its platform. Assume that Special Audio converts regular audio into 3D sound, giving the impression that you are watching content in a cinema.
Netflix releases special audio feature for Stranger Things, Red Notice
Netflix claims that you don't need any special equipment like home theater or surround sound speakers or any special streaming plan to access this feature.
This special audio feature was previously available for the Apple TV+ streaming service.
The list of films and series that have achieved this functionality includes Ryan Reynolds The Adam Project, Stranger Things Season 4, The Witcher, Interceptor, Lock & Key.
Users can try the Spatial Audio feature by simply typing "Special Audio" in the search bar on the main page. Now select the favorite movie or series that you want to watch.
4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos and Netflix Calibrated Mode available
Netflix already comes with support for 4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos, and Netflix Calibrated Mode. All of these devices work with all streaming plans and don't require surround sound speakers or home theater tools.
According to a statement from Netflix, Netflix Spatial Audio helps transform the cinematic experience of immersive audio into any stereo. It doesn't matter which device you use to watch Netflix.
The special audio feature will be enabled automatically when streaming a series.
On the other hand, if you have surround sound speakers, it is recommended by Netflix to watch TV shows and movies in 5.1 surround sound or Dolby Atmos.
