Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, reports that the upcoming rugged version of the Apple Watch will cost around $999, which is the same starting price as the Apple iPhone 13 Pro. The company currently has a Watch Edition priced at $849, which is expected to retire after the launch of this rugged version.

According to reports, the Apple Watch rugged version will have a 2-inch display and a 46mm or 47mm casing. This makes the wearable device display about 7% larger than the rumoured 1.9-inch screen on the Watch Series 8.

The screen resolution of the shatter-proof display is expected to be 410 x 502 pixels. It will run the latest watchOS 9 operating system and will include more workout tracking options as well as system improvements.

Samsung is also developing a high-end smartwatch with a sapphire display, a larger battery, a titanium body, and a temperature sensor. It will be interesting to see which of these two smartwatches takes the top spot.
