Street Fighter 6 - State of Play announced June 2022 trailer

Capcom has revealed the first Street Fighter 6 gameplay, confirming the sequel inclusion of a single-player adventure mode.

The gameplay trailer, which was first shown during a PlayStation State of Play broadcast on Thursday, confirmed a 2023 release date for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

"Street Fighter 6 is powered by Capcom proprietary RE Engine and spans three distinct game modes, including Fighting Ground, World Tour, and Battle Hub," Capcom said. "The experience also includes innovative new gameplay features, as well as enhanced visuals in all areas of the game."

"In addition to new gameplay innovations, Street Fighter 6 celebrates what fans love about the franchise by bringing core modes from previous titles to the Fighting Ground experience, including Arcade Mode, online matches, Training Mode, local versus battles, and more." Players will have a wide range of fighting styles and skills to master, from iconic World Warriors like Ryu and Chun-Li to the final addition to the Street Fighter V roster Luke and the new expert breakdancer / drunken boxer Jamie."

Capcom announced that Street Fighter 6 will include a new optional control type with "simplified inputs," as well as a new Drive System, "a new gauge used to perform five distinct techniques that enhance a player offensive or defensive capabilities."

Ryu, Chun-Li, and Luke return in Street Fighter 6. Jamie, a brand new challenger, joins them.

Fighting Ground is the first new game mode, and it focuses on the classic fighting game experience with modes from previous games in the series like Arcade, online matches, Training, local versus, and more.

World Tour, on the other hand, is described as a "immersive single-player story experience" that "pushes the boundaries of what a fighting game is and allows players to leave their own legacy with their player avatar."

Finally, Battle Hub is described as "a destination that offers new and unique ways for players to engage, communicate, and interact."

SF6 will also include the series' first-ever Real-Time Commentary Feature, which incorporates the voices of popular Fighting Game Community (FGC) commentators like Vicious and Aru directly into the game to narrate what is happening on-screen and is supported by subtitles in 13 languages.

The publisher stated earlier this year that the fighting sequel is being developed "with the aim of elevating the fighting game genre to a new level in the world of esports while also utilising [our] cutting-edge development technology to produce an enthralling game experience."
