OnePlus co-founder prefers iMessage over WhatsApp, Google Messages

Although Apple iMessage is not the most obvious communication channel in India, it remains a popular messaging app in some global areas, such as the United States. Google Messages, the default app on most Android phones, competes with Apple standard messaging app for iPhones and Macs. Aside from that, it is a competitor to Meta-owned WhatsApp, which is free to download from Google Play and the App Store. Different users may have different preferences for their preferred messaging app, but it appears that OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei prefers iMessage over most messaging apps.

This was revealed by the founder of the UK-based Nothing, which will launch its first Android phone next month, in response to a tweet from Android Police.

The first tweet asked fans to choose from popular messaging apps such as Telegram, WhatsApp, WeChat, Viber, and others. Surprisingly, the image attached to the tweet with the messaging app logos does not include iMessage. In any case, Pei responded to the post by saying he prefers iMessage to most messaging apps. He even responded to fans' follow-up questions, clarifying his preference.

"You're releasing an Android phone [Noothing Phone 1] next month, Carl," said one user (Aleeexfu). "Doesn't stop you from admiring great products," Pei responded. He also stated that he prefers iMessage because it has a "Great UX [user experience]" and is "a joy to use."

iMessage is the default messaging app on iPhones, and users can access messages and media files from their MacBooks as well. iMessage users, like WhatsApp users, can quickly share files, create groups, respond to individual messages, and so on. The latter provides intuitive animations that liven up the app. Most of its features, however, are limited to the Apple ecosystem, which means that if an Android user with Google Messages sends a text to iMessage, the latter will receive texts in a green box rather than a blue box, and the animations will not work. The Blue and Green boxes in iMessage have been criticised for having a psychological impact on young users.
