Mama June, 42, married Justin Shroud, 34, in an unconventional wedding. The Mama June: From Not to Hot star wore all black in courtroom photos obtained by People and E! News, which can be seen here and here. She dressed down in a baggy black t-shirt with a crown and phrase printed on it, which she paired with leggings. She was wearing a full face of makeup and her blonde, wavy hair down. Her groom was dressed in grey pants and a simple white shirt. He wore a gold necklace with a large pendant as an accessory.
The couple, who began dating in 2021, announced their marriage on TikTok and Instagram on May 31. "I know you guys have been seeing it all over the Internet, so we are here to dispel some of the rumours," Mama June captioned her Instagram post, in which she announced her TikTok video. "YES, me and @officialsmallz1 got married on March 23 on our six-month anniversary, and yes, it was spur of the moment." She then encouraged people to watch her show, which airs on We tv on Friday nights. In the video, Mama June also showed off her engagement ring, a round-cut white diamond.
The couple married in Irwinton, a city in Georgia Wilkinson County, according to a photo of the marriage licence obtained by E! News. When they were seen looking at rings at a local jeweller in March, they sparked engagement rumours. They decided on a custom design from Atlanta-based Chris Da Jeweler after some research.
Mama June: Instagram Profile
Mama June discussed her and Justin romance on the HollywoodLife Podcast before announcing their engagement. "At first, we became friends, and he had no idea who Mama June was when he met me. He had no idea I had just gotten out of a domestic violence situation, he had no idea what was going on in my life... and I didn't tell him the truth," she recalled. "I was told I wasn't his type and that he wasn't single. But it turned out that I was his type and that he was single!"
While Mama June appears smitten, her recent months have not been all fun and games. A Georgia court ruled on June 1 that Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, 16, would be better cared for by her sister, Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Shannon, 22, who was granted temporary guardianship of Alana in 2019. According to court documents obtained by HollywoodLife, Lauryn, who has four children with husband Josh Efird, was granted full custody of her younger sister and will receive child support of $800 per month from Mama June until Alana reaches the age of 18. Alana will be 18 in August 2023.
Mama June, on the other hand, appears to be focusing on the positive aspects of her life, such as being free of domestic abuse, drug-free, and happily in love. "I feel like Justin is God way of flashing back the last ten years, with the overdoses and relapses, and showing me how I can truly be treated like gold if I stay sober," June said on the HL podcast. "He was always the one who showed up. He was always the one who texted me at random times when he had no idea what was going on in my life, and that's what drew me to him."
