JWD reaching the five-decade mark will place it among only eight Hollywood films to do so during the pandemic era, three of which are Universal titles (that includes F9 and No Time To Die). It also serves as a further indication, as have other recent films, that big-screen moviegoing is returning.
China is showing very strong results in JWD in what has been a very hampered and volatile market. The film grossed $69 million through Thursday, making it the fourth biggest Hollywood release of the pandemic and by far the biggest imported release of 2022. It is currently valued at RMB 495 million ($73.7 million) as of Friday. This additional figure is not reflected in the Thursday total shown above.
China ($69M), Mexico ($33.2M), the United Kingdom ($19.6M), France ($11.8M), and Australia ($11.7M) were the top five offshore markets on JWD as of Thursday.
Overall, and excluding China, JWD is currently 27 percent lower than 2015 Jurassic World and nearly on par with 2018 Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
JWD debuted in 15 early overseas markets two weekends ago, then expanded to 72 the following weekend, grossing $178 million.
In terms of franchise records, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, Venezuela, Malaysia, Netherlands, Vietnam, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Others Middle East, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, Romania, Lebanon, Egypt, Pakistan, Bulgaria, and Croatia had the series' biggest opening weekend (including previews).
