President Joe Biden did not appear to be pleased with Elon Musk recent comments about the state of the American economy. According to Reuters, Musk informed Tesla executives via email that he had a "super bad feeling" about the future of the US economy, prompting him to halt hiring and lay off 10% of the company workforce. When asked about the situation during a press conference on June 3, Biden was firm.
"While Elon Musk is talking about that, Ford is significantly increasing their investment," he retorted. "I believe Ford is increasing its investment in the development of new electric vehicles." Six thousand workers – union workers, to be sure – in the Midwest. The former Chrysler Corporation is also investing in electric vehicles in a similar manner. "Intel is creating 20,000 new jobs in computer chip manufacturing," he added, laying out his case.
However, before completely ending his talk, Biden did make one last comment. "So, you know, great luck on the trip to the Moon," he quipped, referring to Musk company SpaceX, a private space travel collaboration.
The remark did not go unnoticed by the South African billionaire, who responded the same day on his notorious Twitter account. "Thank you, Mr. President!" he sarcastically wrote, attaching a press release from NASA outlining its 2021 collaboration with SpaceX to develop a commercial moon lander.
The CEO numerous controversial tweets aren't his only connection to the website. In April 2022, he agreed to buy Twitter for a whopping 44 billion dollars, sparking widespread public outrage.
In terms of Musk personal life, the 50-year-old was recently spotted in France with his new girlfriend, 29-year-old actress Natasha Bassett, whom he reportedly began dating in February 2022. "They're very into each other and have been spending a lot of time together," an EXCLUSIVE SOURCE told HollywoodLife of the couple.
This relationship comes after he ended his three-year relationship with musician Grimes in September 2021. In May 2020, the singer gave birth to his son, and in December 2021, the couple quietly welcomed a baby girl via surrogate.
