Netflix despises it when users share passwords, but there are other things that can cause users to be banned from the platform.
Netflix has zero tolerance for violators, and if you violate the streaming giant rules, you may lose access to your account—or worse, be banned. Netflix recently reported a loss of more than 200,000 subscribers.
The company even intends to launch new subscription plans with ads that will be less expensive than the current subscription plans.
Netflix certainly does not want to lose any more followers, and if you want to keep your Netflix account safe, you should avoid doing the following three things.
1. Use of VPN
If you are unfamiliar with the term VPN, it allows users to remain anonymous online. It is primarily used to conceal online activity. It can also protect your network from cyber criminals and hide your IP address, browsing activity, and personal data on any Wi-Fi network. Despite its privacy concerns, Netflix does not want its users to access the app through a VPN network.
This is because VPNs deceive websites into believing you are in a different country. This means you can watch TV shows that aren't available in your country, and Netflix is clearly opposed to the process.
"You may access the Netflix content primarily within the country in which you have established your account and only in geographic locations where we offer our service and have licenced such content," according to Netflix terms and conditions.
If you are discovered browsing Netflix while connected to a VPN network, you will receive a pop-up asking you to stop. If you ignore the reminders, you will almost certainly be banned.
2. Password Sharing
Netflix has been dealing with the password sharing issue for quite some time. The company initially ignored the problem, but now wants to put a stop to it. Indeed, the streaming behemoth has already conducted a test in Peru, Chile, and Costa Rica to combat password sharing.
3. Original Netflix content reproduction
It's the same with any content-driven app or website. An original work cannot be plagiarised or reproduced. People who are caught copying Netflix work face severe consequences.
Netflix requests that users "not archive, reproduce, distribute, modify, display, perform, publish, licence, create derivative works from, or offer for sale" anything on the platform. "We may terminate or restrict your use of our service if you violate these Terms of Use or are engaged in illegal or fraudulent use of the service," the company stated in a blog.
