Goodnews Overwatch 2 public beta for gamers begins today (April 26), and developer Blizzard Entertainment has provided potential players with all the relevant information.
Blizzard outlined what to expect in a news post yesterday (April 25), saying that "selected players" who have opted-in (which can be done here) for the beta will begin receiving invites today at 7PM UK time (11AM PT). More invitations may be sent out as the beta test progresses, which concludes on May 17.

All players who want to participate in the beta must have Overwatch installed on their PC, as this is the only platform that is currently running the beta. If a player receives a beta invitation but does not own the original Overwatch, the game can be downloaded for free during the beta period.
The blog post also mentions that access to the beta can be obtained through Twitch drops, as those watching specific beta streams at specific times can gain access, with a full list of featured streamers available in the blog post.
More betas for Overwatch 2 are also planned, though Blizzard has not specified when these will take place. The studio does, however, state that console players will be included in future tests.
Blizzard also says that players should "expect the game to evolve and refine significantly before launch," which means that any progress made during the beta will not be carried over to the full game when it comes out.
Back in March, Blizzard announced that the co-op and PvP modes in Overwatch 2 would be released separately in order to release the full multiplayer experience a little sooner.
