A hijacking begins the roughly three-minute trailer. Militants have taken over a mall in Chennai, and innocent people are now captives in a high-stakes negotiation between the terrorists and the government, according to a brief montage. However, the outlaws are unaware that one of the hostages is an elite spy named Veeraraghavan.

Vijay is portrayed in typical over-the-top fashion, wielding an ax and slaying anyone who gets in his way. We are also shown flashbacks to his time as one of the "best" spies in the country.

"I'm not a politician, I'm a soldier," Veeraraghavan says in the trailer, raising the stakes. The action is exaggerated, and the tone is playful, as is typical of mainstream Tamil films. There's a quick shot of a hatchback in an elevator, for example. Later, Veera fires a shotgun directly at the camera, illuminating his face in a scene that will undoubtedly elicit whistles from his audience.

It should be noted that Beast is not a "Bollywood" film. Bollywood is a colloquial term for the Hindi film industry, which is based in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Vijay (Thalapathy is an honorific that means "chief") is primarily associated with the Tamil film industry, which is based in the state of Tamil Nadu. There are several thriving film industries in India, each with its own distinct flavour. For example, the period epic RRR, which was released in the United States last week, and Radhe Shyam, which was released a few weeks before that, are both from the Telugu film industry.

Pooja Hegde, who played the female lead in Radhe Shyam, also plays the female lead in Beast, marking her return to Tamil cinema after a long absence. Vijay was last seen in 2021 Master, which came out between the first two waves of the pandemic.

Anirudh Ravichander composed the music for Beast. The songs "Arabic Kuthu" and "Jolly O Gymkhana" have already gone viral on social media and Reels, heightening interest in the film. Beast, which also stars Yogi Babu and Selvaraghavan, is set to hit Indian theatres on April 13th, where it will compete with the Kannada film K.G.F Chapter 2.
