Users will soon be able to make voice calls from the WhatsApp web app. The feature is currently being rolled out to a limited number of users. WhatsApp announced plans to make video and voice calling available to web and desktop users in October 2020. The feature was made available to beta testers as well as some non-beta testers. However, it appears that WhatsApp will soon make the feature available to a wider audience.
Mukul Sharma, a well-known tipper, shared a screenshot of the feature. The video and voice call icons can be seen next to the search icon at the top of the chat window in Sharma's screenshot. The feature was only available to beta users, but Sharma tweet suggests that it may soon be available to non-beta users as well. It should be noted that the feature was discovered in the browser rather than the web app.

According to the Wabetainfo report, WhatsApp is not only redesigning the caller interface for individual calls, but users will soon see an entirely new design for group calls as well. The screenshots show that when you make a group voice call, voice waveforms are displayed for all participants. According to Wabetainfor, the new update is being rolled out to Android beta testers today, with more activations planned in the coming weeks. As of now, the new interface has not been spotted on the iOS beta app, but the features tracker indicates that WhatsApp may receive it in a future update.
