Xiaomi debuted its "i"series of smartphones in 2015, with the release of the Mi 4i. Following that, the company went silent, only to resurrect the series with the release of the Mi 10i in 2021. The Mi 10i was the first smartphone in the mid-price range to feature a 108MP camera. With the release of the Mi 11i HyperCharge this year, the company has risen to the top of the rankings (and Mi 11i). The Mi 11i, like the Mi 10i, is built around a single feature.

Xiaomi 11i 5G Hypercharge
The recently released Mi 11i 5G HyperCharge comes with a 120W charger that the company claims can charge the phone completely in 15 minutes. While this may appear to be a marketing ploy, Xiaomi has used its magic wand to make the impossible possible.

The Xiaomi Mi 11i HyperCharge lives up to the hype. The phone charges extremely quickly. In fact, it easily outperforms the fast charging capabilities of companies such as Realme and Samsung. However, fast charging should not be the only deciding factor when purchasing a smartphone. Fortunately, the phone does not let you down in other areas.

Xiaomi 11i 5G: Design
The Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge has a different design than the Mi 10i from last year. While the Mi 10i had a 2.5D curved edge design, the Mi 11i HyperCharge has a flat screen design that looks similar to the iPhone 12 in certain ways. The phone's flat screen design makes it exceptionally thin. In fact, the Mi 11i HyperCharge is one of the slimmest smartphones in India right now, with a width of just 8.34 mm. However, because of the huge 6.67-inch display, the phone is a little hard to hold, especially if you have little hands like mine.

But, if you can ignore the size, which is not easy to do, especially in the case of the case, the Mi 11i HyperCharge is a great phone. It has plastic edges and a glass back, which gives it a premium look. The way the light reflects off the back of the phone, creating a soft pattern, adds to the overall charm of the phone. The phone's subtle hues of green, black, purple and blue take this pattern even further. What makes the back of the phone a winner is that it doesn't attract dirt and fingerprint marks.

The massive rear camera setup that sits vertically towards the left side of the back will catch everyone's attention. It's large, clumsy, and difficult to overlook. And, while it doesn't detract from the overall appearance of the phone, it also doesn't add to it. Aside from its appearance, this rear camera setup consists of five camera circles, each housing a triple rear camera and an LED flash. On top, there's a speaker and a 3.5mm jack, and on the bottom, there's a SIM card tray, a USB Type-C charging port, and another speaker.
Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge comes with a side mounted fingerprint sensor, also known as the Home button. It sits below the volume rockers on the right. The fingerprint sensor works every time the phone is unlocked. You won't find it sluggish in your work, even on the toughest of days.
Xiaomi 11i 5G: DISPLAY
Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge has a full HD+ AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2400x1080 pixels. It has a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1200 nits. The phone's 6.67-inch display provides a comfortable viewing experience, especially if you watch your favourite movies and shows on OTT apps like Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and Prime Video on your phone. Widevine L1 certification allows you to watch Full HD content on Prime Video and Netflix. On this phone, you can also watch HDR movies on Netflix. The colours are vibrant and well-balanced, and the tiny punch hole camera is ideal for binge-watching.
Xiaomi 11i 5G: PERFORMANCE
The Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G chipset, which is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The phone comes with the Android 11-based MIUI 12.5, which is a bit disappointing at this point. It would have been nice to see Xiaomi ship the phone with Android 12, especially since the device is scheduled to arrive in 2022. Having Android 11 installed, however, has no effect on the phone overall performance. The Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge has been well optimised to take full advantage of the Dimensity 920 5G SoC, which can be seen in day-to-day usage, which is swift and nearly effortless. Whether you're playing games at full speed, browsing social media, or reading an inconveniently large email, the Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge doesn't break a sweat.
Xiaomi 11i 5G: CAMERA
The Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge is a good phone in most ways. However, there is one area where it falls short: the camera. It has a triple rear camera setup, as previously stated, consisting of a 108MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. While it has a good dynamic range and near accurate colour reproduction, the images can be a little blurry at times. This, however, is not immediately apparent. However, when you zoom in on the images, you will notice this deficiency. In addition, the Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge has a tendency to under saturate colours at times. This is especially noticeable in bright sunlight, making the image appear dull and lifeless.
The 8MP camera also clicks pretty good pictures, especially when there are well-distributed lighting conditions. However, it also slightly misses the mark in terms of clarity. Same is the case with images clicked in low light conditions. That said, the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge performs surprisingly better than some of the other phones in this category in low-light conditions.
The 16MP front camera follows the same pattern as the rear camera. Skin tone is hit or miss most of the time, despite having a good dynamic range.
Xiaomi 11i 5G: BATTERY
The Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge is backed by a 4,500mAh battery and has support for the company HyperCharge technology. This technology has a 120W charger, which the company claims can fully charge the phone in 15 minutes.
Now, it sounds too good to be true. But in reality, the Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge comes close to this mark. In my experience, it fully charges the phone in about 20 minutes. But there is a catch. You need to charge the phone very fast. The phone has something called boost mode, which allows the phone to charge at the highest wattage possible without worrying about overheating while doing so. This boost mode is hidden under Settings > Battery & performance > Battery > Boost Charging Speed. So, if you want your phone to charge within minutes, you'll need to turn on this setting manually. Without boost mode, it takes about 25-30 minutes for the phone to be fully charged.
While this might sound a bit disappointing to some, the idea is that you won't need to charge your phone all the time within minutes. And when you do, the HyperCharge technology will juice up the phone in 15-20 minutes.
As far as the runtime is concerned, the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge lasts a full day on a single charge. I used this phone to answer endless calls, from checking mail to a series of binge-watching, during my day to day usage, the phone easily lasted a day.
