WhatsApp users have long wished for a native app for the iPad, and it appears that this app will be available soon. During an interview, WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart confirmed that the Meta owned messaging app is finally considering a native app for the iPad. The longest iPad app has been a source of contention among users. Tippers spotted traces of WhatsApp working on the iPad app at times, but those leaks and rumours yielded no concrete results. WhatsApp may have halted the process earlier, but it is now more determined than ever to release the iPad app.

"People have wanted an iPad app for a long time," WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart told The Verge of the iPad app. Cathcart predicted that the app would be available soon because the underlying technology required for the app was already developed by WhatsApp. "We've put in a lot of effort to improve the technology so that it can support multiple devices. That is now available on our website and desktop apps. I turn off my phone if I have multi device enabled "Alternatively, I can lose my network connection and still receive messages on my desktop. It would be critical for a tablet app to allow you to use it even if your phone is turned off. "The underlying technology is as well," Cathcart said.

Users can now switch between devices much more easily now that the multi device feature is available, and you don't even need an active internet connection to do so. For example, WhatsApp now allows users to log in to both their computer and smartphone at the same time without the need for a phone with an active internet connection. Previously, you couldn't log in to your PC unless you kept your phone close to the computer. Now a single WhatsApp account can also be used to log in to four devices.

In a related development, WhatsApp has been spotted testing the chat import feature from Android to iOS. Wabetainfo, a WhatsApp feature tracker, shared screenshots of the Android to iOS migration feature. Currently, iPhone users can only transfer their chat history from iOS to Samsung and Pixel phones. It will also enable the feature on Android 12 phones.
