Phone storage full? Don't worry, freeing up some space on the device doesn't take long. Companies release devices with 64GB or 128GB of storage as base variants, which quickly fill up due to the increase in app usage over the years. It's not surprising that people have thousands of photos and videos on their phones. Don't be concerned if your device lacks a microSD card slot for storage expansion. There are several methods for making room for new content. What you can do is as follows.
Phone storage full: Use Google Play Store to delete apps
Did you know you could use Google Play Store to clear out the storage on your phone? This may come as a surprise to you, but it is true. Simply open the app and go to your profile > Manage apps & device. Now, tap again on the storage section, where the app tells you how much space your apps have taken up. You'll be able to see the apps you've downloaded as well as how much space each one takes up.
You can then select which apps you want to remove. You can choose the ones you don't use very often and are just taking up storage space. Simply check the boxes on the right side of the screen and tap the dustbin icon > Uninstall. Before you do so, the Play Store app shows you how much space you'll save by deleting the selected apps. This is the simplest way to delete a large number of apps at once.
Phone storage full: Delete large files in one go
Google Files app is available on every smartphone. Simply look for it on your smartphone. When you open it, you'll notice tags on the top of the apps, such as Images, Audio, Videos, and others. Simply swipe left on the tags until you find "Large files." When you tap on it, the app will display all of the large files on your smartphone. Then you can delete the ones that are no longer important or use.
It should be noted that the Files app automatically opens the Downloads apps and displays large files. Simply tap on the hamburger icon in the top left corner to view videos or photos. Then, go to any section and tap on the "Large files" tag to delete large files. All of this will free up a lot of storage space all at once.
Phone storage full: Use WhatsApp Storage manager
WhatsApp is one of the most popular apps, with millions of Indians using it to exchange messages and photos. People receive a large number of unwanted photos or videos on WhatsApp, which are saved in their phone's Gallery app. So, you can use the messaging app's storage manager to quickly delete photos or other media. Simply launch the app and navigate to Settings > Storage and data > Manage storage. A section of files larger than 5MB can be found here. You can use it to delete unnecessary files, photos, and videos all at once. You can also clean up more space in Storage Manager by visiting other sections.
Phone storage full: Store photos to cloud and delete them from Gallery
Another way to free up storage space on your smartphone is to back up all of your photos and videos to a cloud service. You can use the Google Photos app, which is pre-installed on all smartphones. If you already use this cloud storage service to back up your media, simply delete all of the photos from your phone Gallery app. But first, check the Google Photos app on any other device to ensure that everything is backed up; otherwise, you will lose your data.
If you haven't downloaded the Google Photos app yet, simply download and open it on your smartphone and enable the backup feature located in the app's profile section. Now, tap on the profile icon again and select the "Turn on backup" option. The app will then display various image quality options, and you should select "Original quality" to preserve the quality of the images. Your image quality will suffer if you use the storage saver option. You are now completely prepared. Google should have begun backing up your photos/videos, according to the screen. After you've backed up your photos and videos to this service, you'll be able to access them across all of your devices by logging in to your Google account.
Phone storage full: Delete app cache
Finally, if you still need more storage space, consider clearing the cache of the apps. It's worth noting that I'm referring to Cache here, not user data. Don't make the mistake of clearing the app's data by tapping on Clear Storage. It is safe to clear app cache. Simply go to the phone Settings section > Apps > tap on any app > tap on Storage > Clear Cache.
