Xiaomi has expanded its Android TV device portfolio with the launched of the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K. The company has already sold Mi Boxes and Mi Sticks in a number of markets, including India. In September, an updated version of the Xiaomi TV stick was spotted on the FCC, and that product has now been made official. Xiaomi made no official announcement, but the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K in question is now available on the company global website.

Since Xiaomi no longer uses the Mi branding on its products, the stick is now known as the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K. It appears to be the same as the FCC photos from earlier this year. Both the stick and the remote are available in black. There are two branded buttons on the remote, one for Prime Video and one for Netflix. Depending on the country, Xiaomi may change these buttons.

The support for 4K video playback is the big update on the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K, as the name suggests. Xiaomi previous stick only supported 1080p resolution. It has, however, launched a smart box with 4K resolution. To use the new Xiaomi stick, you will, of course, need a 4K compatible TV. The Xiaomi TV stick 4K support allows it to compete with Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and Chromecast with Google TV.

It runs Android TV 11 and supports AV1 and VP9 hardware decoding. The smartphone manufacturer did not specify the SoC used, and there is no word on when or where the new Xiaomi TV Stick 4K will be available for purchase. It is priced between Rs 2,999 and Rs 3,499 in India.

You have to make some compromises for that aggressive price. Xiaomi hasn't included an SD card slot or additional USB port on the stick. It offers 8GB of internal storage and there is no way to expand it.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 12 series will be launched in China later this month. The lineup will consist of three smartphones: the Xiaomi 12, the Xiaomi 12 Pro, and the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Qualcomm latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor is expected to power all three smartphones.
