Android began as a feature-rich operating system for digital cameras. However, it has grown into something considerably more adaptable during the last almost two decades. Android is currently available on a wide range of devices, from smartphones to home appliances, with varying screen sizes. You'll also find an optimised launcher app for almost every Android smartphone. When it comes to smartwatches, however, this is not the case. Because most of Wear OS isn't open source, non-Wear OS smartwatches with Android don't always have good launchers. With L-Launcher, developer LineR hopes to address this issue.
L-Launcher is a free Android launcher app for non-Wear OS smartwatches. It's been in development for more than two years, and its most recent release (pre-alpha v0.0.3) includes a tray-based navigation system similar to Wear OS 3. The launcher app, as seen in the attached video, provides a familiar interface with configurable tiles that you can add to the left or right of the main watch face.
The launcher supports some useful tiles, including an app drawer, a weather tile, and notifications. You also get the option to move these tiles however you like. Furthermore, the launcher provides support for a bunch of different watch faces. However, watch face selection is not enabled in the current release. L-Launcher works with both square and round smartwatches with ARM/ARM64 chipset.
