While Huawei is known for offering its smartphones with its proprietary HiSilicon Kirin series chipset, its PC offerings (including laptops and desktops) typically include either an Intel or AMD chipset. However, a new leak suggests that the company may be replacing these brands processors with its own "Pangu" CPU.
According to tipster @魔法科技君 on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website), the brand aims to launch a new Pangu chipset for PCs, which will replace the Intel Core and AMD Ryzen series processors. Apart from this, the leak also shared the possible launch timeline of this new CPU. It will reportedly launch sometime in June of next year. Apart from this information, the tipster did not reveal any details about this upcoming in house PC CPU.

However, the social media post also states that the new processor from the Chinese tech giant will not be suitable for ordinary consumers. In other words, we probably won't see it launching in the MateBook series of notebooks. It could also mean that it could be a specialized chip for the Metstation series of professional desktop PCs, or it would have applications in the company server operations.

Notably, the upcoming Pangu processor could also be based on the ARM architecture, which started emerging in the PC market recently after Apple launched its M1 MacBook. Meaning this processor can also compete with M1 or Qualcomm Snapdragon cx / c series powered laptops in the future. Keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed report, so take it with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more updates.
