Huawei latest foldable smartphone, the P50 Pocket, was released earlier this week. It's a clamshell style flip phone with a lot of interesting features. Now we have repair prices for the new item as well, and it's no surprise that it's pretty costly.
Typically, repairing key components such as the display, rear panel, or motherboard on a flagship smartphone is expensive; this is especially true of the Chinese tech giant P50 Pocket. The device in issue has a 6.9-inch foldable display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate, among other features. It has a 4,000mAh battery and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, which supports 4G.

Obviously, the base P50 Pocket and its premium variant are the same price. However, this does not include the display, which can cost up to 4,379 yuan (approximately $690) for the premium variant and 3,579 yuan (approximately $560) for the base variant. In other words, the display is worth the price of two capable mid-range smartphones. However, given the specifications of the foldable OLED panel, this is not to be expected.
Similarly, the motherboard repair cost for the 8GB + 128GB version is 3,399 yuan (approximately $535), while the 512GB version costs 4,599 yuan (approximately $700) on the premium version. As a result of these exorbitant costs, it is clear that breaking your new Huawei P50 Pocket can leave you far behind.
