As expected, Huawei today officially unveiled its first clamshell smartphone, the P50 Pocket. During the premiere, the smartphone was compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max (in terms of size and camera) and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 (in terms of folding mechanism).
Huawei has developed completely new hinges for the P50 Pocket, thanks to which when folded, the halves of the case are parallel to each other - a difference we have in Samsung competitor.

Interestingly, Huawei decided to compare the P13 Pocket with the iPhone 13 Pro Max in terms of weight and dimensions (here, of course, the advantage is in favor of Huawei devices), although the devices belong to different classes. Huh apparently, the Chinese company believes that the P50 Pocket could attract potential buyers to the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max.
The Huawei P50 Pocket sports a 6.9-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 21:9, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2790 x 1188 pixels resolution. The round front screen has a diameter of 1 inch. It should be noted that Huawei has done a good job of interfacing outdoor and indoor screens. For example, if the user is using navigation software, navigation prompts are displayed on an external screen when the smartphone is turned off. You can also display different types of data on the external screen, including QR codes. Displaying notification messages and widgets on external screens is also supported by third-party applications.

Rumors have it that the P50 Pocket will receive the Kirin 9000 platform; But actually this smartphone is made on Snapdragon 888 4G. The main camera is represented by three sensors: a main resolution of 40 megapixels, a 13-megapixel one connected to an ultra-wide-angle lens (here Huawei is proud of the absence of distortion in pictures) and a 32-megapixel Ultra Spectrum sensor.

The P50 Pocket packs a 4000mAh battery with 40W fast charging support. In terms of these parameters, it has no competitors in this segment. Other models have less battery capacity, and don't support that fast charging.
Huawei P50 Pocket is available in three colours. The base version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of flash costs $1,410. Top variant of P50 Pocket Premium Edition with 12GB RAM; And 512 GB of flash memory costs $ 1,725. Sales in China start today. It should be noted that only the HarmonyOS operating system has been announced for the P50 Pocket; So the new product (at least for now) is focused only on the Chinese domestic market.
