Apple unveiled the iPhone 13 lineup in September, and the iPhone 14 is still months away from release, but rumours about the iPhone 15 have already begun to circulate, with the most recent claiming Apple will abandon the physical SIM card slot starting with the iPhone 15 series in 2023.

According to the Brazilian publication Blog do iPhone, the 2023 Pro models (tentatively dubbed the iPhone 15 Pro) will not have physical SIM card slots and will instead rely entirely on eSIM technology for connectivity.

According to the source, these iPhones will also include dual eSIM support, allowing users to have two lines active at the same time. It's unclear whether the non-Pro models will also rely entirely on eSIM technology or continue to use physical SIM card slots.

Apple plan to drop the SIM card slot is hardly a surprise as the tech giant is said to eventually move to a port less iPhone, and removing the SIM card slot seems to be the first step in that direction.

However, even if Apple launches the iPhone without a SIM card slot, we can still see it offering a version with a physical SIM slot in countries where eSIM service is not available.

Again, 2023 is a long time to go, and it is best to wait for this information to be confirmed by reliable industry sources before finalizing it.
