First smartphone with Snapdragon 898 leaked in the wild, CPU details outed
With less than two months until the end of 2021, we anticipate the first 2022 mobile SoCs to be announced soon. Qualcomm recently unveiled its new mid-range lineup and is now laying the groundwork for its next flagship SoC, tentatively dubbed the Snapdragon 898 SoC. The new chipset, like MediaTek upcoming Dimensity 2000 and Samsung Exynos 2200 with AMD GPU, will be built on the 4 nm architecture. Surprisingly, the latter is responsible for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 4 nm fabrication process. The first smartphones with this chip should be revealed soon after the SD898 is revealed, which is expected to happen sometime next month. However, a smartphone with this chipset has appeared out of nowhere. We now have our first look at the Snapdragon 898 specifications thanks to the leak.

Xiaomi, Vivo, and Samsung are among the first to release a smartphone with the new chipset. A smartphone equipped with the Qualcomm SM8450 was leaked today. For those who are unaware, this could be the actual model number for Qualcomm next-generation flagship SoC. The Device Info HW app was open when the device appeared. It reveals the upcoming smartphone configuration. When it comes to smartphones, it's difficult to tell which one is which. Some believe it's a new Vivo smartphone, while others believe it's the Xiaomi 12. In fact, as it did with the Xiaomi Mi 11, Xiaomi may unveil or at least announce the upcoming flagship soon after the chipset is revealed. So there a good chance this is the Xiaomi 12.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC specifications
To return to the point, the leak confirms some of the Snapdragon 898 specifications. The device will include a Prime core that is based on the ARM Cortex-X2 architecture. There are also three ARM Cortex-A710-based mid-cores. These have a clock speed of 2.5 GHz, and there are four efficient ARM Cortex-A510 cores with a clock speed of up to 1.79 GHz. Surprisingly, this corresponds to recent leaks.
Interestingly, the majority of the upcoming chips will use a similar CPU architecture. The big difference, however, will be on the GPU side. With AMD mobile GPU teasing ray-tracing capabilities, Samsung, for example, has an appealing marketing strategy. Qualcomm GPU performance must be improved to compete with Samsung offering. The Adreno 730 is expected to perform better, but its exact specifications have yet to be revealed.
More information about the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 has leaked, including the arrival of a Snapdragon X65 5G model. It has a theoretical maximum downlink speed of 10 Gbps, according to reports.
