Using an old, outdated iPhone?
If your existing phone is hopelessly obsolete, this is one of the finest reasons to buy a new one. It's probably not worth it to go from an iPhone 11 to an iPhone 12 right now. There won't be enough of a difference in performance and features, especially when compared to what the iPhone 13 will almost certainly include. However, if you can wait until the next iPhone is released, you may be rewarded for your patience.
Owners of older iPhones, such as the iPhone X series, face a totally different calculus. The iPhone 12 features an improved A14 Bionic CPU as well as an OLED display. Even just those two improvements are a significant improvement over phones from just a few years ago.
However, if your phone still turns on and does everything you need it to do, give it a few more days. There's no reason to upgrade unless your phone is truly broken. Phones as old as the 2015 iPhone 6S can run iOS 14 and will be updated to iOS 15, so there's no reason to do so unless your phone is truly broken.

The need for 5G speed
5G wireless isn't yet widely available, and its capabilities have been exaggerated. However, the iPhone 12 is the first and only iPhone to support 5G technology. If you have a strong desire to connect to 5G cellular networks and have access to one, the iPhone 12 will satisfy your need right away. Of course, the iPhone 13 will almost certainly connect to 5G, so waiting is quite acceptable.

New features in the works
The iPhone 13 will undoubtedly include brand-new features that the iPhone 12 does not. If the rumours are true, the iPhone will have a 120Hz display, making it the first iPhone to do so. The iPhone 12's screen currently features a 60Hz refresh rate. Smoother, snappier browsing via apps and websites will result from the quicker refresh rate. Apple will almost certainly improve the iPhone 13's camera, as it does every year. Also keep in mind that Apple only delivers software updates for a limited time on its phones. Price may be the deciding factor
Money, as the adage goes, speaks volumes. If you can locate a good bargain on the iPhone 12, it might be enough to persuade you to make a decision. Maybe you're thinking about switching carriers. If that's the case, the wireless operator you want to switch to can have trade-in promotions that might help you save money on a new phone. Consider waiting until the iPhone 13 is introduced, especially since it's only a matter of days away. The iPhone 12's price will almost certainly drop at that point. Depending on how the iPhone 13 ends out, a drastically discounted iPhone 12 may be a better choice.

And, while we can't say for sure what new iPhone models will cost, we've made reasonable estimations. The iPhone 13 series is likely to be priced similarly to the iPhone 12 line. Apple, on the other hand, might sell it for a lot less. In 2020, Samsung and Google requested less money for the Galaxy S20 FE and Pixel 5. When compared to the model before it, the Samsung Galaxy S21 had a $200 reduction.
