Apple next iOS update could be released in less than a week, with the firm's first event of the year now set for March 8. The fifth – and possibly final – beta of iOS 15.4 has been made available to public testers. AirTag anti-stalking alerts, a gender-neutral voice option for Siri, new emoji, Face ID updates, and the long-awaited arrival of Universal Control have all been introduced in iOS 15.4 betas.

As the name suggests, iOS 15.4 is the fourth major update to iOS 15, which was released in September alongside the iPhone 13. These updates, which began with the December release of iOS 15.1, have added new features to Apple iPhone operating system while also updating existing ones. iOS 15.4 will be released soon after iOS 15.3.1, which was released last month to address a security flaw in iPhones and iPads.
As with any beta operating system, we recommend installing it on a test device rather than your primary iPhone. Because beta releases are intended to test for stability and bugs, they are not optimised like release versions, so you will likely experience shorter battery life and app instability.

When will iOS 15.4 be available?
Apple hasn't announced a release date for iOS 15.4, but we could see it at the company's March 8 event, which will also include the iPhone SE 3 and an updated iPad.
How do I download the iOS 15.4 beta?
You must first enrol in Apple Beta Software Program. Once you're in the programme, go to Apple and download the configuration profile. Then, go to Settings > General > Software update and select Download and Install to find the most recent beta version. Due to the buggy nature of beta tests, we only recommend this for secondary and tester devices.

What basically is Universal Control?
Other devices can be used as second screens with Universal Control, allowing you to seamlessly move content between them while only using one device. This much-anticipated feature was initially announced as part of MacOS Monterey, but it was postponed over the fall, with a new release date of "this spring." However, Universal Control has appeared in the iOS 15.4 beta and is expected to be released alongside the Monterey OS 12.3 update.
Can I use Face ID while wearing a mask?
Apple is updating its Face ID feature to make it possible to use it while wearing a mask. Because Face ID uses a smaller portion of your face to verify your identity, you'll need to be more precise about the angle you hold your phone when using it. Your phone will even notify you if it requires you to look at the screen more closely. The updated feature should work for people who wear glasses, but it will not work for people who wear sunglasses.

What new emoji are coming?
If you're the type of person who takes pride in using creative and fun emoji, iOS 15.4 is for you. The update includes 37 new emoji, including new options for pregnant people, hands forming a heart shape, a salute, and my personal favourite, a lip-biting emoji. The emojis, which were unveiled last fall, also include a melting face, a crying face, a bird nest, coral, a lotus, a low battery, and kidney beans.
The ability to copy text from objects using the camera while in the Notes or Reminders apps is also included in the update. According to ZDNet, the second update to the iOS 15.4 beta also fixes a bug involving recordings of Siri interactions.
